Did you get everything you desired?

I had a wonderful Christmas day. Spent with friends and family. Matt stayed the night. He had a couple of friends over on Christmas Eve. Yesterday some dear friends stopped by for dinner and games. So is anyone hitting the stores for some after Christmas sales? I plan to stay the day at home in the warm house. It is a cold and windy day here in LV and I am resting before the long week ahead. The decorators are beginning today and will busy getting ready for the BIG NYE parties in store.

Really?

A snow day in Las Vegas? Yes, schools closed. Well my side of town only saw a couple of inches other areas of Las Vegas experienced eight to ten inches of snow. A huge storm came in Wednesday - Thursday. The commute was crawl and the airport was practically shut down. There were quite a few flights that were diverted to LA.

Young love - too fast, too hard. What happens when one falls out of love? How do you comfort a young person? Why is the first love so hard to get over? Why do young people say "I'm not good enough for you - you deserve someone better." Though I may think this is true - how do you tell a young person that they are an amazing person and they have a lot to offer? How do you explain that people change especially at such a young age?

Are you ready for Christmas - me heck no, I will be finishing up this weekend. I still cannot believe we are in December - Winter is here next week.

The weekend

Yes - very thankful. Been a hectic week at work. The weather is quite nice today - a little chilly but beautiful blue skies. Which is good since Nolan has a soccer tournament this weekend.

So today looks crazy:
Allergy shots
Zumba class
Soccer game
take time for lunch
Soccer game

Rich's dad sent me a birthday card - so super nice of him. Rich just re-united with him last December. We have been so busy and I have been under the weather so we will celebrate next weekend.

what happened - it's December

Really what happened to November? Blinked and it was gone.

Been incredibly busy both at home and work. Where to start...

Nolan is doing an amazing job as the soccer captain - we are really proud of him. He has a tournament this weekend. Two games on Saturday and two on Sunday. Practice on Thursday and a league game on Monday and practice on Tuesday. The official title of soccer mom is very prominent.

Molli got me hooked on the Twilight series. So I read the first three books and I am working on the fourth. Before I went to see the movie, I read the reviews, listened to the radio shows - not very good so my expectations were not high - the movie was terrible. The acting was substandard and the special effects - they missed it completely - it could have been so much better - the potential was there.

Thanksgiving was spent with family and friends. Played Rock Band and some cards. My mother in-law joined us on Friday and went home today.

Work is crazy - my job never ends - there is never a slow period, in fact since occupancy is low we tend to have a lot of events planned to get players in during key times. So the week before Thanksgiving we had a five day shopping spree for our loyal customers. Next Monday and Tuesday a slot tournament, the following Sunday is a Drawing. Followed by a Poker tournament and then that leads us right to New Year's Eve.

That sums it all up!

Is there any truth in Horoscopes?

Here is mine for today - puts a lot of things in perspective.

Remember all those resolutions you've made in the past, dear Sagittarius? Now, it is time to recommit to those resolutions. All signs indicate that you need to start taking better care of yourself. You've been so busy working that taking time to exercise has begun to feel like a luxury you can't afford. Actually, exercise and proper nutrition are luxuries you can't afford not to take. You've been burning the candles at both ends lately and you are beginning to feel the effects. Stop before you get burned out completely!

What do you think? I say yes! Over the weekend I made a silent commitment to resume a more disciplined exercise routine and to not eat as much and certainly each less "junk."

I had gone to quick Care on Friday - an acute infection in the throat, swollen glands that had pressed on the wrong nerves and sent intense pains up the neck and into the ear. So I decided more gym time - I always feel healthier when I am in my best shape. I get a "high" when I workout on a regular basis.

Hit & Run ~ My cousin

My cousin has suffered broken bones - nose, several in the wrist and possibly a broken back and multiple other injuries.

We are hoping if anyone has seen anything last night that they report it. This all took place in Dixon CA. Please read the article below.

Ed will be in the hospital for a while and has a wonderful, beautiful wife and two daughters. They need your help to find out who hit him.

Info sought in man's injury
By Kimberly K. Fu/ KFu@TheReporter.com
Article Launched: 10/17/2008 07:17:35 AM

The California Highway Patrol is asking for the public's help in determining how a Dixon man was injured Thursday night on a Dixon roadway.

Around 5:45 p.m., 45-year-old Edward John Ballerini reportedly was jogging in the area of Midway and Pitt School roads. A passing motorist saw him checking his watch on one side of Midway Road and then crossing to the other side, California Highway Patrol officials said. Fifteen minutes later, the motorist reportedly drove through the area again, only to notice the commotion on the roadway and learn that the pedestrian he had seen earlier was at the center of it.

It turns out that, shortly after 6 p.m., another passing motorist noticed a hat and other items lying near a ditch off Midway Road at Pitt School Road, officials said. For some reason, she pulled over to check it out. And found the victim, later identified as Ballerini, in the ditch.

The victim was conscious, CHP Officer Julie Saraiva said, and suffered cuts to his face, right arm and wrist. Memory loss, it seems, was also an issue.

"He doesn't remember anything," Saraiva said. "He doesn't even know where he is."
No vehicles were in the vicinity of the accident scene and no eyewitnesses were in the area, either.

The victim was later airlifted by REACH ambulance to the University of California, Davis, Medical Center in Sacramento. His condition was unavailable at press time.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the California Highway Patrol during normal business hours at 428-2100 or 1-800-TELL-CHP.

IU, Soccer

What a wonderful weekend - Ginger, Teresa, Layle and Janna all did an amazing job this weekend - I needed to be inspired and they did not let me down - Thank you - I had lost interest in scrapbooking and you all brought it back.

I happy to announce that Nolan's team, Vegas United, won their first game, 5- 0. I missed the game but there are more to come. I guess the crowd went crazy when Nolan put some fancy foot skills (juke) on the other team. Coach Ryan called after the game and told Nolan what an awesome job he did. Nolan had four assists.

Happy October

It's suppose to be fall - right? It will be ninety-five degrees here. Love this city!

It is Halloween month - get to decorate the front yard.

Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Worse so is Christmas! So that means I will be asking for Christmas lists - What do you want Santa to bring you?

This weekend is Inspiration Unlimited - can't wait to see Ginger - always fun. I am taking Friday off to help out.

Yesterday a customer from Manchester, England brought Nolan a soccer jersey with Ronaldo's name on the back - his favorite soccer player. Nolan wore the shirt to practice last night to break in proper - lots of sweaty boy germs.

Are you disappointed?

in Desperate Housewives? I am - what was that all about?

I am currently watching the first half of Dancing with the Stars then I will switch over to Prison Break.

At work I am working on New Years, Super Bowl and budgeting.

I am official owner of one share of stock at work - the Chairman of the Board gave every salaried employee one of his personal shares of stock. Yes we have Employee Stock Options - but that is under the name of all the employees or better known as ESOP - this is in my name. It was a nice - not worth much but nice.

Nice to have a short work week - gonna help Ginger this weekend! I know she mentioned something about margaritas - sounds yummy.

Went to the gym yesterday with Molli (our Sunday ritual) - in case you are interested - I'm sore today, hope she does not kill me.

Since we are all trying to save money - thought I would share the site with you:
www.moneysavingmom.com she has helpful tips from using coupons to making a few extra $$$. I have earned a lot from this site.

So six things about myself...
1) I hate mushy and slimy foods, eggs & mushrooms are at the top.
2) I am scared of clowns.
3) I am from a small town in CA - will only go to visit - will not move back - I love Vegas!
4) If you have something stuck in your teeth - I will tell so that you do not look like a dork.
5) I love to exercise - I even like to sweat, let's me know what I am doing is working - abs are my favorite.
6) I have terrible allergies - since I was a kid, so allergy shots are a part of my life - I am not afraid of needles - I even donate blood.

so there you go.

Work, soccer, gym

Today felt like a Monday - yikes. Fires, all the fires, all the complaints.

Nolan's soccer team really prides itself on getting these kids into shape. So he worked really hard today - he is currently passed out on the couch - I have to wake him to shower.

Do you get a high on the gym? I am back in the groove and really trying to get back in shape. On Sunday Molli and I met and had a great work out - arms, abs, a little cardio. My arms are still sore.

It is hard to get there since Nolan has practice three days a week and Monday's the gym is so crowded. So while Nolan practices, I will walk the park and then the plan is to be at the gym at least three days a week.

Back to the grind

Vacation was so nice.

How does one person build up so many emails at work in one week? Crazy stuff - over 260. There were only 13 voice mails. Mondays are the worse.

We came home Friday and DH had to turn around and work a tournament in AZ, he dot home late last night so he is pretty tired and started school today. Back to school for hubby - gonna be a teacher, that is the plan.

Mr. N had such a great time on the cruise, - enrolled him in the Circle C program for 12 - 14, he stayed out late every night. He was on the TV everyday - so if I ever needed to find him, I just turned on the TV. Dancing - activities - hanging out - eating fries and ice cream all day and night.

So back to the grind - at least I am relaxed. Got a lot done today but there is a lot more tomorrow - two more schedules, informational cheat sheets, BEO's, etc.

Sunday, August 17, 2008

Wow - where have I been

WORK - WORK and well WORK!

Been working my butt off - but it really needs to get to the gym more than two days a week.

Met Molli this morning - man she looks great - she is at her goal weight - I am so freakin' proud of her.

It is the time of the year - that we have to start our budgets, and this year I have more on my plate than ever - I am so crazy to take on the Special Events department - but it is fun planning the events. We are in the middle of planning New Year's Eve. This is fun meeting with decorators - entertainers - AV - food and beverage. There are so many elements. Not to mention we are working on Super Bowl.

Lots of lay-offs have happened and the employees that are left are so down and have to work twice as hard - I get mad because I keep thinking - they still have jobs, they should be grateful, instead of all this "oh poor me" stuff.

We have decided not to coach soccer this year and move Nolan to a competitive team - the search was long - 2 1/2 weeks of practicing with various teams and clubs - Nolan was at a different practice every day except on Sundays. The result is we found a great coach and a good team where he will play a lot, this team is in the rebuilding stages and we are excited to see them all come together.

So work has encouraged everyone to take early vacations - so I am on VACATION - woo-hoo. We leave to long beach tomorrow for a 4 day cruise to BAJA CA. This happened to be a good time because Nolan's B-day is Tuesday - big 12. Just the three of us - Matt just started a new job and just got back from the Bahamas, so he will stay home with the dog.

Words to live by

Here is my horoscope:

Today's Sagittarius Horoscope: Jul 29, 2008
Today is a day to be happy, dear Sagittarius, so stop thinking so negatively. It could be that people around you may seem superficial and arrogant, but try not to judge them or say things about them behind their backs. Live and let live. You will find that the more you extend good cheer and a general positive feeling outward to others, the more this feeling will get bounced back to you.

I chopped off my hair - cute bob, shocked a lot of people.

Sibling Rivalry

Dr. Phil had a couple of sisters on his show - wow, did that hit home. Their issues seemed very stupid to the average listener/viewer - but these were real - just like my sister vs. lil' bro' and me.

Anyways - that is the only thing I am dreading about this weekend, that and I hope my mom does not get her hopes up to some happy family reunion - cause that ain't gonna happen. My sister and I have had our problems since high school. Long crazy story.

This weekend is about Grandma. Still thinking about a gift and time is running out. Thanks for the suggestions Ginger, but I am running out of time for a scrapbook (I made her one at the 75 mark) and she has enough clutter - she does not need to collect anything. What does an 80 year need or want? Coach - no that's me, jewelry - no me again, scrapbook supplies - me again... what to do!?!?

I did not get my hair cut, yet. I am getting closer to the idea of short hair. Maybe next week.

Monday, July 14, 2008

a day off

worked all weekend - so I took the day off.

At work, we had an invitational slot tournament - the guy who won was so super nice and grateful - I like when nice people win.

I think I am getting my hair cut today - I keep thinking - I really like the bob - hmm. The more I see them the more I want one, add a few highlights, but then I think if I cut it I have to style it everyday - no ponytails. So I keep thinking - will I put it into action, hmm.

Getting ready for next Saturday - a day with my family to celebrate my Grandma's 80th. What should I get her? Suggestions are welcome.

Back to the family part - yikes, they all scare me - I love being so far away. It will be nice to see some of them - but the others, well you know the saying - there is always one in every family - we have more than "one."

Guess Who's having a birthday?

My Grandma!
She is throwing herself a birthday party for her 80th.
How old is she in this picture? Where was she? What was she doing? Who was she with?

Monday, July 07, 2008

Happy Monday!

Can you believe it is July and I am planning December and February events - yes the two big ones! New Year's Eve party and Super Bowl aka the Big Game, since the NFL does not want anyone to use the official name.

So much of the hurry and wait - do this now and wait - got to have all the information now and wait, you get the picture.

Rock Band is super fun - and anyone can play - you don't have to be a great singer - you do need to hit the right notes. Nolan and I completed a few more songs today. We stopped for dinner and to get a few clothes put away. If there are no good shows on tonight - guess what we are going to do...yep ROCK BAND!

Happy 4th

Forgot to post - Happy 4th! What did you do? Me stayed home, BBQed burgers.

Today we went and saw Hancock - good movie! Then the best part - we bought Rock Band for the Wii. too much fun. We have been playing all afternoon (I have been on easy - not ready for higher levels yet). Jumped in the pool to cool off - it is quite hot here. I have not gone to the gym in a couple of weeks since it has been too painfully hot.

Better go practice! Drums, guitar, singing - funny stuff.

Friday, June 27, 2008

Happy Friday!

Yep - two days off. Ready for the HOT - HOT - HOT weekend. Better clean the pool. I plan on being there a lot.

Get to pick up my son from the airport today, he has been gone a week - Went to the Bahamas, lucky kid! He said he drank a lot, the legal age there is 18 or 19, but who checks? Spent everyday at the beach - ah - what a life. He went with his cousins and his aunt. His words "I had the time of my life!" well he is only 20. Can't wait to see him.

Things have calmed down at work - at least in my departments. There are still a couple of departments that need to cut-backs or lay-offs, the longer they wait the worse it will get - the pressure from doing the nasty task and then you have the pressure from the VP's.

Gas - hate it - why do we have to put it in our vehicles? Sam's Club is at $4.19 gallon this morning. If we can solve that problem then most of the economy will straighten up, that's my 2 cents.

Social Butterfly

Take this test!
You've got people smarts! Social intelligence refers to the ability to read other people and react appropriately. As a result, you probably have a pretty keen sense of others' motivations most of the time. It's likely that you can also spot the difference between what people say and what they really mean.

This understanding of behavior and human nature can help you go far. After all, it's been said that it's not what you know, but who you know that counts. And you have a way with people. Your social intelligence may manifest as having the gift for gab, being a top-notch networker, or an excellent listener and friend. However you put this intelligence to work, you're sure to be admired for an abundance of social know-how.

Work

Work is rough. The casino business has seen a huge decline since the beginning of the year, this is followed by a record year. Went from a high to a low.

So what do you do? You have to lay people off from work.

Everyday employees have been walking on eggshells. Who is next? Will it be me? Am I valuable? Do I do a good job?

The worst part of my job is employee evaluations, consultations and lay-offs or terminations.

Business will turn around, we are continuing with a $25 million renovation, but tightening up on every other expense, including payroll.

If you could fix the gas problem - a lot of other problems would melt away. I am doing everything I can think of to get people in. Free rooms alone will not do it. Gas cards? Free food? Free play?

Monday, June 16, 2008

Seriously

Take this test!
Maybe you're sometimes misunderstood like your Grey's Anatomy match Dr. Addison Montgomery-Shepherd, but it doesn't take long for people to recognize your good heart and your better intentions. From your love life to your work life to your social life, you have a natural prowess when it comes to rising to the top, even if it's a bumpy road on the way up.

No matter what, you're committed to being honest (at least most of the time!), and that always helps you land in others' good graces. Way to go!

I won!

Thanks Ginger for picking me! So excited - so happy! Doing the happy dance.

Went to a crop on Saturday - got to Molli and Danielle for a tad bit - Holly stayed the entire time. Here I was cleaning up at the end of the evening and Ginger says "Debbie" - well I thought it was someone else - she never calls me by my name. So she must of realized it and said "Mum, you won!"

Drum roll please... Revolution, tabletop Die-Cutting system - it is in the cutest case.

I also achieved seven completed LO's.

Girls night out - yep this Friday, M & M. Mojitos and a Movie. Better check the movie times.

Las Vegas Weather

Love it!

This is the time of the year that we can sit on our patios and relax. Not too hot, not too cold, but just right.

We had a pool party at work this evening - killer band - a slight breeze - great atmosphere.

Waiting for Grey's to come on - love that show.

Love the new hat?

Bought this hat in Mazatlan, wore it all day in Puerto Vallarta. In Cabo I got a bad sunburn on my forehead I needed some protection. While near the port in Mazatlan, there were a lot vendors selling odds & ends, well there was this one vendors whose proceeds went to the red cross so I figured - I need a hat and it goes to a good cause.

Happy Mother's Day

Breakfast in bed - flowers - cards - BBQ - kids getting along = a great Mother's day!

To all the mothers - hope you are having a great day! Received flowers from my father in-law, only met him one time - he gets cool points.

The Cruise

Wow what to say but OMG! The only way to go on a vacation. In the past, we have gone here and there and mostly to visit family - I am hoping to go CA this summer, but would love to go on a cruise with the entire family.

Day one - overcast in San Diego, checked in with out a hitch. The Casino staff threw us a private Welcome party in the Crow's Nest. From there was dinner then to a group picture then to the casino. The players gambled up a storm.

Day two - at Sea - spent most of the day in the casino with my customers and walking around the ship getting to know where every thing was. Had a spa treatment - the one that targets cellulite - way cool - you get a workout without having to do a thing, muscles contract - totally awesome. Formal night. Went to a show - very dorky.

Day three - Cabo San Lucas - we went to Nikki Beach, to a five diamond resort and enjoyed lunch then walked through the town - very dirty - lots of graffiti. Got very sun burnt at the beach.

Day four - Mazatlan - went on a shopping bus tour (must have been the senior bus - everyone was OLD). Bought some beautiful tiles - planning on putting them in a future patio. Again most of the city was full of graffiti.

Day five - Puerto Vallarta - my favorite place, love the boardwalk. Went to a tequila factory - that was so fun, did some shopping, bought a cute dragonfly necklace and two pair of coach sunglasses - the big bulky kind. Took a customer to the Pinnacle grill - a gourmet restaurant.

Day six - at Sea - had another spa treatment, spent some time doing some work - planned all of the 2009 events - spent some time in the casino with my customers. Formal dinner night. Saw a show - Horizon - Motown music.

Day seven - at Sea - guess what, yep you guessed it I worked finished the Special Events planning as well as SE Room budget - that made me feel so good - I went and had yet another spa treatment - a detox seaweed wrap and massage - went to the casino and on the last night the crew put on a show in the dining room - it was cute.

Arrived back in San Diego - rushed back to try and make it to the soccer - got in town with only a few minutes left of the game so we missed it.

The cruise was a wonderful experience - will definitely do it again. Met some great people and the staff on board of Holland America Oosterdam were extremely nice people.

What's your True color?

Take this test!
Your color is black. The color of night. Serene and mysterious, black conjures up images of elegant evening gowns, dashing tuxedos, and gleaming limousines. Traditionally a symbol of success, black also represents power and an uncompromising demand for perfection. Not surprisingly, you tend to set challenging goals for yourself and do whatever it takes to achieve them — your strength of character is second to none. This unfaltering determination, along with your natural elegance, impresses people. But keep in mind that your personality might be intimidating to some. Try to temper your demanding side with a little softness — trust us, it won't kill you. Overall, though, black is the color of professionalism and achievement, which means it's clearly the color for you.

On the return

We are now returning to San Diego - be there Saturday morning. Two days at Sea.

The only way to go on vacation is via a Cruise. Seven days is a bit long, but having the time of my life.

By far my favorite Mexico city is Puerto Vallarta - gorgeous! Cabo and Mazatlan both had so much graffiti and beggars. To do the best shopping - you must be a good negotiator or you pay too much - bargain everything - they want your business. Don't worry the vendor expect it.

Today will be in the high 80s, sunny - I have to get some work done today - planning the events for 2009 - this is work - great job - huh? It has its moments. But first I am going the the Spa - they have a great spa on board the Oosterdam, Holland America. Can't wait to post some pictures - the Internet is slow so will have to wait until I return to the states.

Thursday, April 17, 2008

Are you packed yet?

Seriously, if I hear that one more time I will SCREAM!

The answer is no, I never pack early, I know what I want to take, and I usually pack the night before. That is just how I am.

Leaving Saturday morning to San Diego for a 7 day Mexican Riviera Cruise, hosting approx. 30 couples from work. I have never been on a cruise, so this will be a first - I am excited but I still have work to accomplish while on the cruise.

I came across this horoscope today, it says it all.

Today's Sagittarius Horoscope: Apr 17, 2008
Even though the times are favorable to relaxation, you won't be able to fully enjoy this period, dear Sagittarius. You rather will try to accommodate your agenda so that you can lead a more balanced life. The planetary aspects at play will incite you to change your attitude toward work. You should try to lighten your responsibilities to avoid stress at the office.

What a nice day!

Yesterday - went to a Hockey game, great seats, first row! Thank you Chad G! Spent the entire game talking to Rach - we watched the last two minutes. She is not into sports at all but who can resist a hot dog and a beer.

It was cloudy and chilly this morning - now it is just beautiful. Met Molli at Starbucks for coffee - that was so nice, just talking and listening and understanding.

Rich and I picked up a couple of sandwiches came home and ate them on the patio. Plan on grilling this evening.

Nolan and Matt are with friends and Rich at a meeting so I have a few minutes to myself - I love this time.

Spoke (typed) too soon, Matt just called and is on his way home with a friend.

Still cannot not go to the gym - I just discovered I cannot walk backwards. We had our first soccer practice on Friday and I could barely get through it - this is one nasty sprain. Ankle is still swollen - getting better but swollen. Hoping to get better by a lot of rest before the cruise on the 19th.

Time to do some wash and maybe read outside since it is so super nice.

Gas Facts, Very interesting . . ..Just wanted to spread this around... think about it!

This is an email that was forwarded to me – thought I would share.

Here at the Kinder Morgan Pipeline where I work in San Jose, CA we deliver about 4 million gallons in a 24-hour period thru the pipeline. One day is diesel the next day is jet fuel, and gasoline, regular and premium grades. We have 34-storage tanks here with a total capacity of 16,800,000 gallons.

Only buy or fill up your car or truck in the early morning when the ground temperature is still cold. Remember that all service stations have their storage tanks buried below around. The colder the ground the more dense the gasoline, when it gets warmer gasoline expands, so buying in the afternoon or in the evening.... your gallon is not exactly a gallon. In the petroleum business, the specific gravity and the temperature of the gasoline, diesel and jet fuel, ethanol and other petroleum products play an important role.

A 1-degree rise in temperature is a big deal for this business. But the service stations do not have temperature compensation at the pumps. When you're filling up do not squeeze the trigger of the nozzle to a fast mode. If you look you will see that the trigger has three (3) stages: low, middle, and high. In slow mode you should be pumping on low speed, thereby minimizing the vapors that are created while you are pumping. All hoses at the pump have a vapor return. If you are pumping on the fast rate, some other liquid that goes to your tank becomes vapor. Those vapors are being sucked up and back into the underground storage tank so you're getting less worth for your money.

One of the most important tips is to fill up when your gas tank is HALF FULL or HALF EMPTY. The reason for this is, the more gas you have in your tank the less air occupying its empty space. Gasoline evaporates faster than you can imagine. Gasoline storage tanks have an internal floating roof. This roof serves as zero clearance between the gas and the atmosphere, so it minimizes the evaporation. Unlike service stations, here where I work, every truck that we load is temperature compensated so that every gallon is actually the exact amount.

Another reminder, if there is a gasoline truck pumping into the storage tanks when you stop to buy gas, DO NOT fill up--most likely the gasoline is being stirred up as the gas is being delivered, and you might pick up some of the dirt that normally settles on the bottom. Hope this will help you get the most value for your money.

April Fools

April Showers bring May Flowers - if that is true we are getting showers tomorrow, at least that is what the weather people say.

Looking forward to the warm spring and hot summer of the desert.

I'm back

Went to Texas over Spring break and very glad to be home, but being away from work for 9 days made for a couple of days.
Played catch up all week plus had to review Feb's financials - still needs to figure out what happened to all my comped rooms and entertainment - hopefully our accounting department will help.
Next week should be better, well cross your fingers - please.

Oh, a brand new Old Navy opens up today near the house - I am off to do a little shopping.

Out of Town

We are leaving this afternoon to San Antonio. I have not even packed yet, I am always a last minute packer. So that is nothing unusual. It is suppose to be in the 80s and really nice while we are there.

Friday we have plans on attending a Spurs and Kings basketball game. I will be one of the only kings fan there. Way out numbered!

Allergies

Runny nose.
Itchy eyes.
Sore Throat.
Congestion.
Cough.

This season is the worst. Went to the doctors and got my medication re-checked. The doctor has decided that I need to go back on allergy injections. So I was re-tested today - yep I am still allergic to just about everything.

My next appointment - quite scary - it will be over three hours long, two injections every ten minutes, called the fast track.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day.
Taking a week off - no work for one week (9 days total).
Taking a few days off to get some shopping done for the cruise next month.
Taking a trip to San Antonio, Texas - going to go to a Spurs vs. Kings game.
Taking time to enjoy the family.
Taking time to clear my head from the stress at work.

Step One - completed

I bought one of Oprah's book club books - A New Earth Awakening to Your Life's Purpose by Eckhart Tolle. This book is suppose to be similar to "The Secret" - I did not get the book but I did get the audio. I do not recommend the audio. When the voice is not good your focus is not on the message.

Step two read the book, might start tonight - need it. Need to create a positive outlook so I can pass it on to my staff.

Hubby is working at CON EXPO, he is getting paid to referee a back-hoe competition.

Why do we live in Las Vegas - the weather - it is suppose to be near 80 tomorrow.

Monday's Stink

Especially since I had to pick a few things on Saturday for work and go in on Sunday for a couple of hours. It feels as though I have not had a day off.

We had a few more employees that fell victim to staff reductions - not a very pleasant feeling. The work load does not go away - same amount with less people to do the job. So, how do you keep the rest of your staff motivated? They are so down - have to be creative to keep them focused - any suggestions? All they see are employees loosing their jobs - are they next?

I need to get motivated - need to read something that makes me feel better. I need to have a positive attitude.

Pacific Daylight Time

Happy PDT! Did you remember to Spring forward?

Nice to have that extra daylight at the end of the day. Makes it really feel like spring, which I have Spring fever again, cleaning closets, drawers - ooh - dust - ahh-chew! With spring comes allergies and I get them bad. I have been putting off my doctors appointment to the allergist. I did go see the doctor on Friday about my ankle since it is still swollen - bad sprain, nothing broken but it will take another 4 -6 weeks to heal. I wanted to get into shape before the cruise.

Rednecks

My mom has a motor home on "motor home hill" at the Las Vegas Speedway. She has been in town since Wednesday night and she has no plans on stopping by the house. They are here for the races. My two sons are out there this weekend. They are watching the races from the motor home. Have you ever seen those people on top of their motor homes? That's my family. Anyways, I hope they have fun.

Call me Graceful, last weekend I was walking around the pool back to the house and sprained my ankle and fell right into the pool. The ankle is now turning the most horrible colors of purple and green. So I having been slowly limping around - trying to stay off the ankle as much as possible.

I have a little spring fever going on - I want to clean the house and trim the plants outside and I cannot walk - very frustrating. It will have to wait. The worst part, I miss the gym so much - since I cannot put pressure on the foot - I cannot do much, movement is very tight.

Happy Chinese New Year

The year of the Earth Rat.

I was born in the year of the Dog - what does that mean to me?

There are so many advantages you can enjoy in the year of the Earth Rat. This is a lucky year to focus on your home and family. Anything that brings a greater feeling of stability should be encouraged. You may have to be strong when facing challenges to what you value most. Some relationships may end and ultimately this will be for the good. Don't be afraid to ask for help from experts, friends and family. Stressful situations will show you who you can rely on and who is not truly on your side. You will learn to be strong and to maneuver situations to your advantage.

Thoughts

Every once in awhile take a moment, stop and let go. I often read a few phrases and quotes when things start to get crazy. It pulls me back into perspective. These are some of the reasons why I try not to over react. Here are a couple of quotes I read today:

A calm person is far more sociable and civilized than those who try to live rigorously by laws and watchwords.

In moments of extreme panic turn to those who can remain calm, for their thinking remains uncluttered and objective.

It is far better to control your attitude and feelings than to have them control you.

Super Bowl

Super boring until the last quarter. Super glad it is over. Super party - over 1300 people. Super tired, what a long weekend.

Yes - there was a small fire Saturday morning contained to a wall in one bathroom. Security put the fire out and it is still under investigation. No word right now as to the cause. No one was hurt and no damage to any personal belongings, just the wall.

Tomorrow is a another big departure date - so as some employees are relaxing, I still have a lot of work. End of month, coding, reports, comp, reviews. Still trying to work out all the kinks of the big upgrade (or should I say - downgrade). I am planning to take Friday off. Looking forward to that.

13 years today - it is our anniversary! Since I had to work all weekend, we will celebrate another time, but Rich gave me roses 12 red and 2 white - we exchanged white roses during our wedding ceremony and he always gives me 2 white roses.

headache

Yep, tough week. We have all these so called "legend football players" and they are broke - credit cards declined and not wanting to pay for extra nights - just cause they are stars that I have never heard of - huh!

You plan for months to make sure eveything runs smoothly - you get the details to the customers and you are patient with the company that books the "legends" - they have a horrible problem with details. Hello! What do you tell the customers after all the signs are printed and letters have been picked up - so we have to tell these guys "your ideas are great, but sorry that can't happen."

Lots of guests checked in today with more on the way tomorrow and the weather is not cooperating. Milwaukee's airport was closed for awhile and O'hara had a 5 hour delay. That means our customers may cancel - the most profitable weekend of the year!

We are opening a new Sports Bar and Grill this weekend - so final touches are being made.

Autograph signing tomorrow night, VIP party on Saturday and the Big Game on Sunday, we have to call it the Big Game because the NFL does not want anyone to use Super Bowl or Super Sunday - anything to make a buck and discourage people to go to Las Vegas vs. the actual game.

Headache, yes, back to real reason of the headache - I just settled with the pool company after a long drawn out process, wrote them a check from my home equity line of credit to find out today that Countrywide has decided to suspend our credit due to the fact that the Market has changed and the value of the homes in my area has dropped. Go figure - I was approved for the amount and they just took it away with no warning. Now what! Why was that never disclosed to us? Why do I have to find out this way? What about the check I wrote? So many questions - I tried to call them tonight and they are closed so I have to wait until tomorrow. Needless to say I am a little stressed. Here we are - a new year and new problems, just when I thought they were behind us.

Just Stuff

Well, it is Saturday morning and thought I write a few random thoughts of the last week.

One week ago went to the Caucus and I was the "Room Leader." So I ran the room, we only had 10 people in our precinct and 1 from another. It was really quite easy. The first order of business was to see if anyone wanted to take my place - no one volunteer, so I became the permanent chair. Then, I checked everyone in. Read a statement about delegates and asked if anyone wanted to be a delegate - we needed 6 and six people volunteered. So far so good. I then asked if anyone wanted to speak on behalf of any candidate - there were a couple and they had only two minutes - and no one else could then speak about the same candidate. Then one of the election staff passed out ballots, I collected them and read them out loud, we were done in 1/2 an hour. It was extremely easy - no problem, unlike some other rooms/places. It is satisfying knowing who is representing us as delegates (in this case - its me). Knowing these are our neighbors make me feel so much better than people that were involved with the election.

Super Bowl is set we all know who will be there - the million dollar question is who will win.

Nolan was very sick last week - back to normal.

My lil' bro' is moving in with a girl - getting serious!

Work is work - trying to train a new assistant, that is hard, so I can get some of the stuff off my desk. Employees are tip-toeing around, due to the threat of more reductions. So trying to keep morale up is harder than ever. We had two upgrades on software in the past two weeks - I seem to think they were downgrades - it is worse than better - a lot of stuff is not working. We even went to a manual system one day to check guests in to the hotel because the upgrade took longer than expected - that was horrible. Lines were so long and customers were so unhappy.

The plan to today is to go bowling and lunch/dinner with friends. I have not been to the gym since last Sunday, due to the fact I had to work late every day this past week, so I will be going tomorrow - mostly cardio.

TGIF

FRIDAY!!!! Woo-Hoo!!!

So happy it Friday - can you tell?

I have a Dr. Appt. this morning then off to work I go. A couple of meetings and training a new assistant. Tomorrow is the BIG day for the voters of Nevada - something new - a Caucus - we have never had a caucus before. I am an avid voter so I will be participating.

Okay, about the Dr. Appt. - at the gym this Dr. was test stress and scanning the nervous system - kinda creepy, but the results freaked me out - so I will get a better understanding today - don't know if there is merit to this discovery (I already knew I carried a lot of stress) but I will see what he has to say.

I have a new assistant that I began training and so far she is great! Due to salary reductions the only way I could get an assistant is by moving positions around. Lo and behold - I found someone to support me.

NV Caucus - well this will be a new experience - this is exciting - I love politics - I do not love the politicians - especially this time around. No clear front runner and no clear choice for me and tomorrow is the day to decide within my party.....

Mandatory Salary Reductions

That sucks!

The budget is not final but we are told to reduce our salaries - ASAP! Which means good people have to loose their jobs - the worst part of my job. Who stays and who goes?

Thursday two positions were laid off - are there more is the question that so many employees ask - how can I answer this question? Like I said this is the worst part of my job.

On the lighter note - Mr. Rich has been painting the ceiling - woo - hoo. So now I decided to paint an area that I originally did not want to - but the "finished" look is so nice. So, I will be trying to take down a boarder in the kitchen - hopefully it will come off easy.

Nolan has his first set of finals next week - this is a new experience for him. Matt went to work to make some money this morning.

Acts of Kindness

Over the weekend (while trying not to do anything) I witnessed two acts of kindness. Yes there are nice people in Las Vegas.

The first act of kindness was a lady at a bus stop moved a grocery cart out of the way to prevent a car from hitting it. She could have not moved from the bus stop bench, but she made a choice to do a good deed.

The second act of kindness was a man walking down the street picked up and moved a large piece of card board that the awful wind blew into the street.

Then today, flashing lights and no one moves out of the way for the ambulance. I do not get it. Is it because its Monday?

Which leads me to work, re-evaluating job performances and productivity. I hate this part of my job. The budget is not finalized yet, but I know I have to cut payroll which means I have to do the worst part of my job....

2008

2008 - huh! Where does the time go? So looking forward to a great year. The ending of this past year was not so hot, but a few good things did come of 2007.

Now, 2008, we are moving in a new direction. Okay my moto at work will be "incredible service." Seriously, why are people just mean. No one seems to go the extra step to help a customer - my work must have the worst customer service skills. So, for 2008 it will not be tolerated. Well, it sounds good. Work will be tough over the next few weeks for me personally, one of my departments is being looked at with a fine tooth comb and the out come for some will not be good.

Super Bowl is just around the corner - yikes a huge a event for Las Vegas in general, followed by NASCAR and March Madness.

I lost 2 more pounds and increase my lean body mass, which gives me more motivation for this coming year, I will defiantly hit my goals. I just ended with my personal trainer, which he is awesome, so I am on my own for a while.

It was a cloudy weekend, some rain but mostly clouds and wind. My plans were to do nothing and stay home and play video games, clean my bedroom, play more video games, play sudoku, make chili and watch movies. Well, I did almost nothing, had a $30 coupon for Kohl's to use by 1/5, so we picked up some bedding for Nolan. Went to the gym today and met up with Molli (hope you are feeling better). Light work out - just some cardio. Hit Starbucks on the way home. Put the chili in the crock pot and did a bunch of nothing. Woo - Hoo!!!
