I have been reading a lot of blogs about saving money and paying off debt. It is nice to read how others are trying to do the same.
Check out this posting on Money Saving Mom, and look at all the links of everyone that is budget minded.
I loved to be pampered by getting my nails done, pedicures, massages - for 2009 I will cut these costs down. By not getting my nails down I will save over $550 - 650 year and limiting pedicures to every other month will reduce another $150 - 200. I hardly get massages like I use to - usually will take them as a gift, about twice a year. This all means a higher payment to those credit cards.
I have listed the credit cards by interest rate & balance and the plan here is pay more to the higher rates until they are paid off. I have less credit cards than the average person, just 2 major and 3 department stores. Do you know most people have an average of seven - eight credit cards.

Financial Goals
Every year one of my biggest resolutions is to have less debt. Well this last year (2008) I gained more debt than expected.
So I started to evaluate all the extras. HBO, NETFLIX, AOL and COX, second phone line, cell phones. In order to apply more to the credit cards I need more. I decided to cancel: HBO, NETFLIX and the second phone line which is a monthly savings of $67 equaling $804 per year.
Since I have Cox high speed, do I really need AOL? Since I have cell phones do I really need a land line for the house?
Eating out and on the run also creates unnecessary costs. Here the plan is simple, plan meals and eat at home more often, use eating out as an reward.
Grocery bills are the another BIG junk of $$$. We will shop when we need to and use coupons, from the paper and online and most importantly stick to a list. If it is not on the list it is not NEEDED.
I am sure there are areas that I am missing - would love to know how you plan to save in 2009. Please share your thoughts.
